Alive & Brel
The finest songs from the iconic master of the modern chanson, Jacques Brel, come to life when this trio of singers perform their intimate cabaret revue, ‘Alive and Brel’. Brel’s music, famed for its emotional power and ironic wit, has been recorded by international stars ranging from Frank Sinatra to David Bowie.
‘Alive and Brel’ has twice been part of the Three Choirs Festival fringe and, after further sold-out performances in Hereford and Bristol, brings these songs, laced with dark and passionate observations which paint a tableau of imperfect humanity, to a cabaret setting.
‘A pleasant surprise package…very capable of depicting Brel’s catalogue. The blending of the three voices was particularly pleasing and gave the performance originality.’—Simon Bishop, Stage Talk Magazine
'All in all, Alive and Brel offer a slick show which is clearly well thought out and elegantly executed. They pay homage to Jacques Brel with obvious admiration for the man and his work and share this affection liberally with their appreciative audience.' - Livia King review of 21 January performance at Crescent Theatre, Birmingham
